"Our journey to build our new house on our property has been an interesting one. We are lucky enough to have seven acres to build our home on so decided from the outset that we were going to build what we wanted. This being the case the size of the house and site for it wasn’t an issue. We designed the layout from the inside out as we have great views and as we are getting older want to be able to stay here for hopefully forever. So wanting to be outside in the sunshine and garden rather than doing housework also played an important part in the architects brief with the layout and internal fitout for us. We went to see three architects before we found Luke. My first comment to each of them on the house design was “we don’t want a bath tub we want two wet rooms”. Various comments to this was, no you must put a bath tub in. This will reduce the house in retail value if you sell later on. A lot of head shaking and not happy with our decision. Well this is our house and we are having what we want. If the person who buys it after us wants a bath they can do whatever they want then. After walking out of two architects offices with rough sketches of what they knew we must have we were very frustrated. Then I saw a sign on a fence for a local building designer and this started our journey with LMD Design and Luke. Our first meeting consisted of, Luke we are building our upcoming retirement house on our land, we want what we want in it and we don’t want a bath tub just two wet rooms. Great Luke said, we were on our way. We gave Luke details of room sizing, windows, verandahs, the outlook we wanted to achieve and he ran with this. Luke visited our property to get a feel for the house with the sloping block and the views. Luke is easy to talk too and work with, no problems with altering things as we set out what we wanted and Luke’s input with different options was always valuable to research and discuss. If you want an architect who will design your vision of what you want to spend your money on and bring it to life Luke is the person you need to contact.
